Na-Cho Typical Family Tradition

A couple weeks ago my hubby texted me at work and said “I want nachos every Sunday night” and then continued to text me the ingredients he wanted on it. Such a silly guy, but hey, I’m a sucker for creating family traditions big or small so I was all for a new Sunday night tradition.

Sundays are lazy days for us. We spend the morning at church, come home and nap, and then we lounge around the rest of the afternoon and evening. So, Sunday dinners usually consist of putting random things together and eating whatever is easy.

I’m looking forward to having nachos each Sunday because it’s easy, you can change it up, and it’s delicious of course!

This Sunday was our first go at the new tradition and well, I may have made enough for a party. Opps! Hey, don’t judge, it was my first time making nachos. Silly it may seem to you, but nachos has never really been a menu item for me. Keep your giggles to yourself. ;) I'll blame my friend Angie who told me how she made nachos. Apparently her cookie sheet is midget sized compared to mine. ;)

If I was thinking properly I would've taken step by step pictures for you, but I was too excited to make them that I didn't think about it until the product was finished. For now you’ll just have to visualize each step. :)

1. Layer a cookie sheet full of tortillas chips (I wouldn’t recommend filling the sheet unless you’re making a party sized batch…yeah, yeah…lesson learned)

2. Add refried beans over the chips (I used a refried bean mixture; 1 can of refried beans, 1 packet of taco seasoning, & a ½ c of sour cream blended)

3. Sprinkle with cheese (I used shredded cheese as well as chunks of Velveeta)

4. Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted

5. Layer with whatever ingredients you choose (I used lettuce, tomato, black olives, and chives)

6. Top with sour cream and taco sauce or salsa

Easy as pie nachos and so delicious! Enjoy!

Krista

  1. Haha! That seems like a random request! Was there anything leading into his desire for nachos? Or did he just decide randomly one day that a new tradition was needed? lol And better to have too many than not enough! Yummm!
